First Solar embarks on game-changing PV strategy

Faced with what he described as a “structurally imbalanced” photovoltaics (PV) deal in, First Solar ’s interim CEO Michael Ahearn has told investors that the company must now focus on utility-scale projects face of the traditional, subsidized markets that it has served thus far.

Ahearn said that the PV market was faced with a major difficulty, in that there is now effectively no constraint on polysilicon feedstock rig out, and no barrier to entry for the production of crystalline silicon cells and modules. So long as capital is available and subsidized requested is uncapped, production will increase, forcing prices down in the way that has been so evident this year.

As a result, the company is changing its master plan . It faced a tough choice: continue to chase the traditional PV markets, created by government-funded subsidies but basically unsustainable; or embark on a new mission to provide unsubsidized solar electricity in new markets by aggressively lowering the cost of the technology. It has chosen the latter selection.

is it possible storing the produced electricity from solar cell and using it few days later on?

So far I understand , electricity from Solar panel/cell is used directly for different purpose, may be some energy can be used as battery but , is there any other storage system to count on energy for long time?

You can have faith it in a battery.

You can store it other ways;
pump water to a high level, and later use it to street a turbine.
Spin a large flywheel up to a high speed.
